Most trending news in India today is the touch-less water dispenser, made in India. Obviously a proud moment but not the only one. MoPure from Realment Labs is a touch-less water dispenser that helps to reduce the spread of infections through taps in common establishments by dispensing drinking water when the user just places his hand over the sensor.

The user is first required to put some container (or Glass) just below the water tap of the machine. Now as soon as the user move his hands over the sensor, the tap starts dispensing water out of it. After the container (or Glass) is full, the tap can be stopped by moving the hand again over the sensor. This method can be better understood by the following animation.

Working

The technology used in making this is not a new innovation. it is just a simple application of an existing technology based upon the Ultrasonic Sound Sensor.

Over the sensor board, it can be easily seen that there are two holes/ports. This is the place where the sensor is placed. One among them is the ultrasound emitter and another one is the ultrasound receiver. The emitter continuously emits the ultrasonic sound waves and they go away in the atmosphere. As soon as the user introduces his hand over the sensor, these ultrasonic sound waves strikes the hand and reflect in the opposite direction and here it is received by the ultrasound receiver.

As the receiver gets the ultrasonic sound waves, it generates an electric pulse which is used as signal input to the microprocessor. And as soon as the microprocessor gets the input signal it generates and send an output signal as in form of electric pulse to the actuator (in this case the tap). The tap now allows the flow of the water through it.

Now as the user again moves his hands over the sensor, again a signal is sent to the microprocessor which further sends signal to the tap to stop the water flow.
